2022-2026 Financial Plan Approval

The Committee recommended the approval in principle of the 2022-2026 Financial Plan, reflecting a 5.5% tax increase following revised RCMP cost estimates.

"The Director of Finance summarized changes since February workshops, notably increased RCMP personnel costs (due to a final contract settlement) requiring an additional $79,300 from taxation. This raised the proposed overall tax increase from 4.7% to 5.5%. Council acknowledged the increase was primarily due to unavoidable operating costs and agreed that delaying the funding would only exacerbate future tax increases."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT the Committee recommend to Council that the 2022-2026 Financial Plan be approved in principle, as amended; AND THAT the 2022-2026 Five-Year Financial Plan bylaw be prepared for consideration at the April 19, 2022 Council meeting."
