Fireworks Bylaw

Council received a report indicating the current fireworks bylaw, which prohibits sales but controls discharge through permits and safety courses, is effective, despite the challenge posed by online fireworks purchases.

"Council discussed the spike in fireworks usage, the difficulty of enforcement due to online sales (e.g., Costco/online retailers) and purchasing outside of the CRD (north of the Malahat). The Director noted the permit system helps track discharge locations and promotes safe use."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT the report dated March 3, 2021 from the Director of Protective Services titled "Fireworks Bylaw" be received for information."
