The Mayor asked Council to rethink changes to land use in the Western Gateway area to prevent property values from rising too high.
"Mayor Tobias argued that increasing density in residential areas beyond provincial requirements (SSMUH) unnecessarily inflates land values, making housing less affordable. He suggested confining higher density to the Old Island Highway strip. Councillor Mattson was reluctant to change the designation without a more detailed review of the maps. The item was ultimately tabled to the next meeting."
