Council voted to continue its membership in the South Island Prosperity Partnership for one more year, with the goal of getting more specific help for local development projects.
"Council debated whether to renew for three years as requested by SIPP. Mayor Tobias proposed a one-year extension instead, to hold SIPP accountable for providing tangible results for View Royal, specifically a regional contextual plan for the 'Western Gateway' and hospital hub area. This would allow the next Council to decide on a longer commitment."
