Paul Nursey, Destination Greater Victoria, Re: Greater Victoria Hotel Development Working Group

A representative from the regional tourism board discussed the need for new hotels and how View Royal can attract them.

"Paul Nursey reported that the region has lost 2,500 hotel rooms in the last 20 years and needs significant new stock. He noted that hotel development is currently viable for the first time in decades but remains a 'risky asset class' compared to residential development. He recommended that View Royal pre-identify sites and signal readiness to developers through incentives. Council members asked about specific incentives, the impact of short-term rental regulations, and modernizing parking requirements for hotels."
