Development Variance Permit 2026-01 - 254 Island Highway

Council considers allowing a business to provide fewer parking spaces than normally required to facilitate a head office moving into a vacant building.

"The applicant intends to use the former Winemaker building for a head office. Staff noted the property is constrained and any conforming use would require a variance. Councillor Rogers opposed the variance, expressing concern that the shortfall would place undue pressure on residential street parking on Stormont Road."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT Council authorize the issuance of Development Variance Permit 2026-01 for 254 Island Highway... subject to... reducing the required number of parking spaces from 15 to 4; and reduce the required number of accessible parking spaces from 1 to nil."
