Letter dated June 10, 2024 from A. Benn and M. DiIorio, Re: Tree Permit Application 2019-076 - 29 Tovey Crescent

Council approved the removal of a pine tree after the homeowner expressed concern that the tree posed a safety risk and was damaging their driveway, despite staff recommending an updated assessment.

"Staff recommended the homeowner obtain an updated arborist report, as the 2018 report rated the tree's risk as 'moderate' but noted a high likelihood of impacting a high-value target (the neighbor's house) due to a 25-degree lean. Council debated whether driveway damage alone justified removal, but ultimately concluded that the combination of infrastructure damage, the tree's structural lean, and potential danger to the neighboring property justified immediate removal, overriding the staff recommendation for a new arborist report."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT Tree Permit Application 2019-076 to remove one pine tree at 29 Tovey Crescent be approved."
