Council voted to request a formal Project Summary during the 2025 budget process to determine the feasibility and cost of collecting neighborhood traffic and speed data.
"Councillor Rogers argued that baseline data on traffic counts and speed is crucial for future decisions regarding the OCP, DCCs, and traffic calming measures, particularly in neighborhoods lacking sidewalks due to anticipated increased density. Staff noted resource constraints and suggested that the work should be strategic and incorporated into the upcoming Transportation Master Plan. Councillor MacKenzie questioned the value, arguing that the results (increased traffic/speeding) were predictable and prioritization would still be difficult. Council opted to scope the project cost through the 2025 budget process."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT a Project Summary to cover the collection of traffic count and speed data in various neighbourhoods in the Town be brought forward to the 2025 budget deliberations."
