Tree Protection Bylaw Interim Update

Council approved the staff report recommending immediate amendments to the Tree Protection Bylaw, pending a full review in one year as part of the Urban Forest Strategy.

"Council was generally supportive of the interim changes to enhance tree protection quickly, particularly lowering the protected diameter. Discussion focused on how future amendments might incorporate protection for neighboring trees and where the Town would plant replacement trees funded through cash-in-lieu payments."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT any amendments to the Tree Protection Bylaw No. 1069, 2022, as recommended in the report titled "Tree Protection Bylaw Interim Update" be reviewed in one year, in anticipation that additional amendments may be recommended as part of the Urban Forest Strategy project."
