Noise Control Bylaw No. 523, 2003, Amendment Bylaw No. 1136, 2024 (Adoption)

"Council debated the adoption of the bylaw. While staff argued alignment with RCMP regional enforcement would increase effectiveness, Mayor Tobias and Councillor Brown opposed the 11 PM noise cutoff, arguing it was too late for a dense community and effectively prohibited enforcement of excessive noise before that time. The bylaw was adopted, but the resulting complication with the subsequent MTI bylaw led to its readings being rescinded later in the meeting."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT first, second, third reading and adoption of Noise Control Bylaw No. 523, 2003, Amendment Bylaw No. 1136, 2024 be rescinded; AND THAT the language in Noise Control Bylaw No. 523, 2003, Amendment Bylaw No. 1136, 2024 be updated and the Bylaw returned to Council for readings consideration."
