Official Community Plan - Western Gateway Corridor - Mayor Tobias

Council narrowly voted to shrink the study area for the Western Gateway to exclude some residential streets.

"Mayor Tobias argued that staff had expanded the Western Gateway study area to include residential Heart Road without Council authorization. He noted the OCP is a 'covenant' with the community and residential areas shouldn't be included without explicit intent. Staff (Sterling Scory) explained the expansion was to maintain consistency along the corridor. Councillor Rogers supported the wider boundary for consistency. The motion to exclude Heart Road passed 4-3."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT the study of the Western Gateway exclude the area of Heart Road from the Western Gateway Community Corridor boundary as it was not the initial intent of the study area agreed upon by council."
