Gibraltar Bay Gazebo Options

"Staff recommended a $5,000 maximum cost-share for removal and conversion to a lookout. Councillor Brown suggested increasing the maximum contribution to $8,000 to better accommodate the potential cost of refurbishment ($16,000 total). The Strata President confirmed no decision had been made yet by the Strata members. Council ultimately passed the amended motion for an $8,000 maximum contribution for refurbishment OR removal."
Formal MotionPassed
"THAT the Town cost share on a 50/50 basis, up to a maximum of $8,000, the Gibraltar Bay Strata's removal or refurbishment of the gazebo located on the Strata's common property (lying between Statutory right-of-way Area "G" and the Esquimalt Harbour), to the satisfaction of the Town's Director of Engineering, with funding to be from the Casino revenue account; AND THAT the Financial Plan be amended accordingly; AND FURTHER THAT should the Strata opt to remove the gazebo, that this project include the installation of additional railings to close off the opening to the water's edge/slope and provide any additional upland improvements, if funds remain, to create a lookout on the said common property."
