Interim Natural Watercourse and Shoreline Areas Development Permit Area Interpretation Policy

Council directed staff to develop the specific interim policy regarding shoreline Development Permit Areas (DPA) based on Option C.

"THAT staff be directed to develop an interim Natural Watercourse and Shoreline Areas Development Permit Area (DPA) Interpretation Policy based on Option C which would require an environmental development permit in the following circumstances: the siting of any building or structure within 15m of the natural boundary of the sea (a variance is required for such siting); any construction of a new principle building on any lot abutting the natural boundary of the sea; any building addition or siting on an accessory structure or building that requires removal of existing natural vegetation on any lot abutting the natural boundary of the sea; any building addition or siting of any accessory structure or building proposed to be sited outside of the 15m setback zone and where there is at least 2m between the proposed structure and any existing natural vegetation in the 15m zone abutting the natural boundary of the sea; and any landscaping activities (e.g. path installation, tree and shrub planting, patio installation) that will require removal of existing natural vegetation or be located within 7.5m of the natural boundary of the sea."
