Strawberry Vale and District Community Club

October 1, 2012

Call to order: by the President at 7pm. There were 9 members present.

Minutes: of the previous meeting of September were read and accepted on a motion by Karrie Rant, seconded by Doris Burow. Carried.

Treasurer’s report: Given by Leslie Freeman for September 2012.

Director’s Reports:

Membership/Publicity: $136 handed over to treasurer in membership dues. Newsletter ready.

Bingo: A draft of bingo rules was handed out. It will be finalized and submitted to Gaming.

Rentals: Rentals remain slow. No monies to turn over.

Hospitality: no report.

Hall and Grounds:

1. Exterior painting of 3 sides of hall is completed. (TJ’s Painting, bill = $4362.53). Recommended to add a second coat next year and do the east side.
2. Exterior sign needs to be redone/replaced. Enquiries will be made re: cost, time.
3. Larry Freeman will replace the High Street side building numbers.
4. Fire extinguishers have been inspected (Capital City Fire). This company also inspects the fire alarm system but at a different time.

Moved by David Trudel, seconded by Shirley Burnham that reports be accepted as given. Carried.

Old business:

1. Moved by David Trudel, seconded by Doris Burow that the club submit a request to View Royal for a grant-in-aid to support the restoration of the front stair entrance of the Strawberry Vale Community Club. This project will enhance the accessibility and safety of the hall, which is a community resource. Carried.
2. Childrens Christmas party on Dec. 9th (2-4pm) with hall decorating on Nov. 25th at 1pm. Bonnie Woodfine will arrange entertainment (crafts, music). Karrie is already looking into gifts.
3. Christmas bingo on Dec. 19th with a break until January 9, 2013
4. AGM set for February 11, 2013.

No new business.
