2013 GRANTS IN AID

RECOMMENDATION: THAT the Committee receive the March 6, 2013 Grants in Aid Report for information.

I concur with the recommendation.

PURPOSE OF REPORT:

To provide Council with information regarding 2013 Grants in Aid received.

INFORMATION:

Council has established a 2013 budget for Grants in Aid of $90,775. Per the Grants in Aid policy #1600-012, up to 95% of this amount, or $86,200 may be allocated to applications received by the deadline date or March 1. The balance of $4,575 may be allocated throughout the remainder of the year as determined by Council.

For 2013, the Town has received 14 applications by the application deadline, 4 of which are new applicants. The total amount of funds requested is $118,870. In addition to these grants, Council has approved a $600 grant in aid to Amanda Evans for Portage Park Native Plant Demonstration Garden.

A condition of funding is that a final report be submitted to the Town. For 2012, only three reports were received. These were from Shoreline Community School Association, Victoria Bike to Work Society, and Spectrum Community School 2012 Dry Grad Organizing Committee.
