a) Parks and Trails Map Draft Discussion
Following the Joint Advisory Committee Meeting at 6:30 pm re: Advisory Committee Orientation, the Advisory Committees discussed the draft parks and trails map specifically noting:
- Addition of Chilco loop;
- The Craigflower Creek, Channery to MacLennan Trail does not exist;
- Symbols are approximate location whereas the parking locations are more precise;
- Disability accesses – not available;
- Rating system to label difficulty of trail or walking loop;
- Public Transit stops;
- Eagle Creek Village park;
- Life span of map;
- Map being printed with grant money;
- New Fire Hall;
- Community Gardens, Welland Legacy Park orchard;
- Remove Welland Legacy Park as community garden and rename;
- The yellow View Royal Park loop should go down Viewcrest Drive to Vickery Road and not down Helmcken Road;
- Knollwood Road to Jedburgh Road is not pleasant walking;
- Green space of Heddle Road should be labelled as natural area, not View Royal Park Land;
- Remove binoculars below Six Mile Road and move to end of Mills Cove Road;
- Definition of water access;
- Purple around Beaumont picture needs to match the harbor loop color;
- Crane access should be left marked as natural area;
- Polly Place and Crane Place accesses – do we keep them; and
- Add Riverside loop from Creed Road up to Evelyn Heights.
Following the discussion regarding the Parks and Trails Map Draft, the Planning and Development Advisory Committee and the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee broke into their own committee meetings.
