Committee of the Whole
Meeting Overview
The Committee of the Whole meeting addressed a wide range of municipal matters, including protective services, finance, and land use planning. Key outcomes included advancing the Firehall Project Request for Proposals (RFP) schedule and recommending further investigation into the optimal reserve fund placement for $800,000 in sewer surplus funds. In planning and development, the Committee recommended approval for two environmental development permits (51 Knollwood Road and 333A Stewart Avenue), although the latter was conditioned on excluding the proposed dock variance. A similar development permit request for 329 Stewart Avenue involving marine foreshore variances was defeated. Updates were also provided on major capital improvement projects along the Island and Casino Highways, and concerns regarding BC Ambulance Service response times were raised.
