Committee of the Whole
Meeting Overview
The Committee of the Whole meeting addressed a wide range of municipal business. Key outcomes included approving staff recommendations to advance financing for a new Fire Hall Land Acquisition via a $2.5 million loan authorization bylaw requiring an Alternative Approval Process. The Committee also recommended advancing proposed changes to the Building Bylaw (No. 742) to Council. Significant discussion centered on two development applications: directing the 2429 Chilco Road applicant to provide extensive additional planning information, and recommending conditional approval for the 1730 Island Highway Development Permit Application, subject to redesigning stormwater detention as a rain garden and funding full frontage improvements. The meeting also received updates on the monthly departmental reports, the Island Highway Project, and Capital Projects.
