To: Mayor and Council From: View Royal Climate Coalition (VRCC)
Dear Mayor and Council,
Just wanted to give you a heads up that the VRCC has just submitted our application form for a $500 grant-in-aid request for our “Beat the Heat” Retrofit Fair slated for Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm at the View Royal Community Hall.
Event Overview and Partnerships
The View Royal Community Association has already committed to partnering with us on this wonderful community event. Besides having the venue confirmed, we have the insurance coverage in place and many of the exhibitors confirmed.
We are also very pleased that folks from the Firesmart Program will also be participating at our event. We hope to attract more participation with some fun things like having Firesmart plants as door prizes.
Key Features
- Living Library: Several of our members will be participating by sharing their personal experiences with heat pumps and solar retrofits.
- Town Participation: We would also like to offer the Town of View Royal a table at the event to promote your Resident Tree Planting Program or anything else that you would like to promote.
Use of Funds
The grant would go towards:
- Promotional material
- Door prizes
- Refreshments and light snacks for all our volunteers and exhibitors
We would like to start working on the promotional materials as soon as possible. Hoping we can count on your support for this very timely educational community event as we endeavour to build climate resilience for our residents.
Warmly,
VRCC Core Team - Jane Devonshire, Linda Jeaurond, Ian Brown, Roz Isaac, Gillian Petrini, Patricia Gooch, Richard Caldwell, Peter Hamilton, and Angela Hanes
