$200,000 budget in 2026Funded by Police Operating Reserve

Project Summary

Financial Plan 2026-2030

Project Name: WS RCMP building expansion

Priority: Critical
Project Number: 1-2-02000-310 CC200-03
Submitted by: Steven Vella, Director of Finance

Executive Summary
This is a placeholder for 2026 costs relating to the RCMP building expansion work. Depending on the outcome of the go/no-go phase, there may be costs not related to debt servicing that are payable in 2026.

Business problem and opportunity
City of Langford is the financial lead on the project. Langford, Colwood, and View Royal have all incurred administrative costs relating to the expansion, which are recoverable from all parties. Since it is unknown as to whether the project will move forward and those costs will form part of the larger cost-base of the build, staff feel it is prudent to set aside funds from the police operating budget if View Royal’s share of these costs become payable in 2026.

Proposed project objectives
To set aside funds for the Town to settle any financial obligations relating to administrative costs in 2026.

Business risks
Should this placeholder not be included in the budget staff may be required to complete a budget amendment in 2026.

Proposed sources of funding
Police Operating Reserve 1-1-00500-172
