The annual South Island Powwow is an opportunity to recognize Survivors and their families in the spirit of reconciliation. We will celebrate traditional Indigenous cultures and resiliency through song, dance, and education.

Four successful events have now been hosted by the Songhees Nation, beginning in 2022. Since the inauguration, the South Island Powwow has welcomed over 70,000 people to witness Indigenous resiliency and to stand together on Orange Shirt Day.

The South Island Powwow is one of the largest Indigenous cultural gatherings on Vancouver Island, bringing together dancers, drum groups, artists, families, and visitors from across the region. The Powwow is a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture, community, and tradition, welcoming tens of thousands of attendees each year.
