Letter from neighbors expressing concerns regarding parking and street access at 110 High Street.
August 29th, 2022 Town of View Royal 45 View Royal Ave., Victoria, BC V9B 1A6
Dear Mayor and Counsel
Re: Re-zoning application of 110 High St.
Thank you for the opportunity to speak on the proposed rezoning of 110 High Street. We have lived at 89 High Street since 1971. We have gone from 9 homes on High Street to 27. The addition of these homes has had a positive impact on the community. The addition of 101 High Street becoming part of Knockan Hill Park has had a positive impact on the greater community.
One of the results of the addition of Knockan Hill Park property has been a problem with parking. Many times we have seen cars parked on both sides of the street in front of our home. This has made it difficult to back out of and getting on to our driveway. There is also limited parking at 110 High Street because of the fire hydrant. This has been an inconvenience at times, but we appreciate that the park being enjoy by so many from the larger community. We live directly across the street from 110 High Street. Our concern is parking and access to on street parking, that is already an issue.
It appears from the proposed drawings that this is a duplex with a suite above a four car garage. Would this contribute to more on street parking? It appears that the street narrows by 3 to 4 feet in front of our home. The drawings do not have any dimensions as to the location of the buildings on the property, which makes it difficult to imagine what the end result will be. Our concern is that this proposal will not fit with the overall development on High St.
It has been our pleasure to have lived on High Street for the past 51 years. Most of the development has been measured and well thought out as to the lot and house size. This proposal is at the end of a dead end street, with no turn around.
Thank you for your consideration of our concerns. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at:
Sincerely,
Bob and Doris Burow 89 High Street
