Thetis Lake Campground Development
I would like to know how the town plans to address the added traffic congestion that the Thetis Lake Campground Development (1938 West Park Ln.) will bring.
From September to June, Monday through Friday, there is a traffic problem. Traffic backs up from the 6 Mile Road/Old Island Highway intersection to and including the highway offramp. There are lineups from both Chilco and Atkins Road trying to merge on to 6 Mile Road.
In the current proposal, there will be 306 units. In a likely conservative estimate, half of these units will be a single vehicle household, the other half will be double. This adds 459 more cars to the already problematic morning commute. This does not factor in the traffic being added from the in-progress Thetis Glen Development. The front page article of the Goldstream Gazette dated July 7, states the proposal includes pedestrian infrastructure improvements, but what about the impending gridlock? Where is the foresight for traffic infrastructure improvements? Those of us with school and work commitments shouldn't be hindsight.
