Subject: Application For A Retail Cannabis Store

Dear Sir/Madam:

Hello. My wife and I live only a few blocks away from the Admirals Walk Shopping Centre. I have the following concerns about the application for a Retail Cannabis Store to be located in this shopping centre:

  1. That it may attract undesirable people to the area
  2. That it may lead to violent events in the area (There is the fact that retail cannabis stores have been targets for robberies)
  3. That it will be a negative influence for youth
  4. That it may lead to late evening disturbances since the proposed store will be open until 11:00 p.m.

Further to these factors, I note that the proposed retail location of the cannabis store will be only two doors away from a dental clinic. I think that it is inappropriate for a cannabis store to be so close to such a clinic.

For these reasons, I am urging the Town Council to reject the application for a Retail Cannabis Store to be located in the Admirals Walk Shopping Centre. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Douglas Jewell
