What social evils are you trying to curb? If you imagine a rash of break-ins by local miscreants in search of immature greenery when perfectly legal and ready to consume product will be more common, I might wonder what you’ve been smoking. Home brewers and vintners are not now experiencing more negative attention than anyone with a growler in the refrigerator or a modest Scotch collection. If undisclosed-at-time-of-sale mold infestation from up to 4 plants is the concern, you had better ban all houseplants … except perhaps cacti. To paraphrase Trudeau Senior, government and its bylaw enforcement officers have no business in the bedrooms or basements or closets of the Town.

Other jurisdictions have managed to regulate a buffer distance from elementary schools and even competing businesses with reasonable compromises. My suggestion is to start with a bit of plagiarism if you need even more time to fine-turn a “made in View Royal” solution. Alcohol and tobacco are legal in the Town. To single out and stall this long-overdue progressive legalization initiative reeks of self-righteous hypocrisy.
Just to be clear, if I were able to attend the Public Hearing, I would be speaking against adopting the amendment.
