Director of Finance report recommending the readings of bylaws to provide tax exemptions for four community and church properties.

PERMISSIVE TAX EXEMPTION BYLAWS
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the Town of View Royal Tax Exemption Bylaw (Community Halls) No. 904 be given first, second and third readings.
AND FURTHER THAT the Town of View Royal Tax Exemption Bylaw (Church Halls and Church Land) No. 905 be given first, second and third readings.

I concur with the recommendation.
BACKGROUND:
BC Assessment Authority requires submission of permissive tax exemption bylaws by October 31 each year. The bylaws to provide a permissive tax exemption for 2015 must be adopted prior to October 31, 2014. Public notice is required to be given and will occur prior to adoption of the bylaws.
Council has directed staff to prepare permissive tax exemptions for the full assessment of the following four properties for a period of ten (10) years.
- View Royal Ratepayers and Community Association
- Strawberry Vale and District Community Club
- Redeemed Christian Church of God
- St. Columba Church
Tax Exemption Bylaw (Community Halls) No. 904 provides an exemption for the View Royal Ratepayers and Community Association and Strawberry Vale and District Community Club and Tax Exemption Bylaw (Church Halls and Church Land) No. 905 provides an exemption for the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the St. Columba Church.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the Town of View Royal Tax Exemption Bylaw (Community Halls) No. 904 be given first, second and third readings.
AND FURTHER THAT the Town of View Royal Tax Exemption Bylaw (Church Halls and Church Land) No. 905 be given first, second and third readings.
