RECOMMENDATION:

THAT the report dated January 25, 2022 from the Director of Engineering and Engineering Clerk titled “Tree Protection Bylaw No. 1069, 2022” be received.

PURPOSE:

To bring forward the Tree Protection Bylaw and impacted bylaws for three readings consideration.

BACKGROUND:

On January 11, 2022 the Director of Engineering presented the Tree Protection Bylaw to Committee of the Whole. Based on Council’s feedback, the Replacement Tree section has been modified in the Tree Protection Bylaw (Attachment A) to reflect the following:

5.18.4 maintained in good health for a minimum of one (1) year;

DISCUSSION:

Tree Bags for Replacement Trees As a result of discussions during the January 2022 CoW meeting staff have investigation the possibility of supplying water bags for replacement trees to assist in their success and will be bringing forward a budget request for Council consideration.

Other Bylaws – Amendments As noted in the January 2022 CoW report, there are other bylaws to be amended. Specifically, the following existing bylaws are proposed to be amended to reflect the new Tree Protection Bylaw:

  • Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw No. 647, 2007 (see Attachment B)
  • Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 958, 2016 (see Attachment C)

RECOMMENDATION:
