Resident letter opposing the increase, stating that Victoria and Saanich operate with similar ratios.

10.b Consideration of Increase to Council Size

I am still not in favour of an increase in Council size. I am still not comfortable in a crowd in enclosed spaces during this Covid pandemic and wonder why you keep asking this question. Moreover, why ask by open house against good medical advice? I will not be attending the Open House but I wish to express my opinion.

Victoria and Saanich have nine councillors (one council member for approximately 10,000 residents) and that seems sufficient for them. While I don't want to argue the general good for Greater Victoria of amalgamation, but the region has 13 municipalities and the CRD and the associated councils, staff and protective services. It seems to me that we are already over governed in Greater Victoria.

I do not feel that this is the time to increase council size. I am satisfied that the current council has kept the Town safe, secure and reasonably well run for the benefit of all homeowners and other residents. Thank you! But we don’t need more councillors.
