Letter from Anthony Miller, Re: November 11 2021 Notice of Intent
Letter asking Council to exercise restraint and postpone the motion during the pandemic.
November 11 2021
To Mayor and Council Town of View Royal.
''' Further to the attached Notice of Intent,
How odd that at this time, in the midst of rapidly rising food prices, where most people are concerned about the uncertainty of their jobs and their savings diminishing daily due to inflation, at the beginning of winter, in the midst of a pandemic, your notice of intent allows little serious time to assess any benefits to be gained from the cost of additional lawmakers.
This is certainly not a time to increase Municipal administration just because you can.
You need look no further than the City of Victoria to observe how their large number of Councillors have found novel causes to champion and fund.
You will note they intend to raise Property Taxes by two point five per cent to pay for them.
I ask Members of Council to exercise restraint and postpone the motion to increase council size or promote the ascending costs of additional administrators, until a suitable time after this Pandemic has safely passed.
Sincerely,
Anthony Miller
