7.1 STAFF REPORTS
a) Parks Wayfinding
The Community Planner spoke to the Committee regarding a strategy for park signs noting the sign system is intended to be within parks and to identify park features. The park sign system includes park identification, directory and interpretive signs, and directional post.
The Committee expressed interest in being part of the future work on the trail rating system.

PREAC-09-21 THAT the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee supports the sign typology as presented by the Community Planner for View Royal Parks Wayfinding system. CARRIED

a) Divest From Fossil Fuels
The Committee requested that information regarding fossil fuel investments come forward to a future meeting.

PREAC-10-21 THAT the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee recommend to Council that the Town review its current fossil fuel investments and recommend a timeline for divestment from fossil fuels. CARRIED
b) Removal of Invasive Species (ivy) from Trees
The Committee discussed the Town developing a bylaw that requires homeowners to remove ivy from trees on their property.

PREAC-11-21 THAT the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee recommend to Council that homeowners be required to remove English Ivy from trees on their property. CARRIED D. Brown opposed
c) Cycling Infrastructure *This item was discussed with item 9. e)
d) Inventory of Covered Gathering Areas at View Royal Parks
The Committee noted there are no covered gathering areas in View Royal parks to shade people and animals during warm weather. The Director of Development Services noted that the View Royal Park Master Plan includes a covered gathering area.
e) Active Transportation Plan Update
The Committee discussed active transportation and cycling infrastructure plans and noted they would like to be included in the Active Transportation Plan process.
The Director of Development Services noted that the Town will be working on the Active Transportation Plan in 2022 with completion anticipated by March of 2023.
