Notice of VFCYJC Annual General Meeting on January 19, 2022

To Municipal Administrators, Mayor and Councils, Protective Services Committees Etc
Good Morning,
Please share widely the Notice of the Victoria Family Court and Youth Justice Committee Annual General Meeting and what members will be voting on at this meeting.
The Victoria Family Court and Youth Justice Committee has worked hard this year on workable solutions following the CRD Review and recommendation that this committee become a ‘Delegated Commission’.
Working Groups have made recommendations and the committee has voted to approve them. As with the previous review in 2010, changes to our operation, Terms of Reference and Constitution must occur at our AGM. Attached here are the specific recommendations of the Working Groups Endorsed by the main committee to be ratified at the AGM:
- Succession
- Priorities-Grants
- Procedures-Policies
- Oct 2021 Letter from AG’s Deputy Minister, Paul Craven
- Finances – coming soon, waiting for confirmation from CRD. The Committee will be working to bring forward any necessary motions on the Finances which are to move back under CRD Finance (and away from us having to have our own account). Any required changes will be included with the agenda package for the AGM.
The Attorney General of BC has been consulted and expressed no objection to our becoming a delegated commission of the CRD with the caveat that we must continue to meet the obligations of a Family Court and Youth Justice Committee as outlined in the Acts.
Yours truly,
Cynthia Day Chair,
Marnie Essery, Secretary, Victoria Family Court and Youth Justice Committee
