From: margaret and Ian Brown Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2022 9:55 AM To: Mayor And Council Email mayorandcouncil@viewroyal.ca Subject: Expanding Council

Dear Mr. Mayor and Council Members,

I would like you to know my opinion on the proposal to expand the number of council members. This will cost initial money and ongoing money each year and I would like you to leave the number of council as it is and spend the proposed budget on far more valuable initiatives.

I propose you vote the same amount of money as an ongoing climate mitigation budget and make the Town, as a corporation, a shining example for View Royal residents to follow in getting off carbon emissions.

Use the first few years to replace all the gas furnaces in the Town Hall and the Public Safety Building by heat pumps.

Next use this carbon budget to replace all the gasoline and diesel vehicles the Town owns by all electric vehicles.

Thirdly use this budget to pay the increased cost that you will incur by demanding all outside contractors, e.g. garbage and road maintenance, use only electric vehicles in View Royal.

This would be true action on our so-called Climate Emergency and a far better use of our tax dollars.

Sincerely

Ian D.Brown 328 Stewart Ave.
