Hello,

Please submit the letter attached, to the Mayor and Council or persons responsible for this decision, for their consideration.

We are once again asking for your support in hosting a donation box in the lobby of your municipal hall. Last year we had all 13 Municipalities participating! We will bring the donation box and poster the week before so you will have it for November 3rd after the weekend.

If you could please respond with a YES! before November 1st. 2023 That would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards, Niki Ottosen

Re: The Back Pack Project Christmas Campaign

Dear Mayor and Council,

I am writing to you in hopes you will consider supporting my organisation once again, this fall and winter! We are asking all 13 Municipalities in the CRD, if they would consider having a donation box in the lobby of the Municipal Hall, to collect donations from members of your community for our Back pack project.

The Backpack Project is an annual local initiative, which provides mutual aid in the fall/winter months and backpacks full of necessities and comfort items on Christmas Day, to community members who are experiencing homelessness. We deliver the back packs and donated items to non-profit and outreach groups in each municipality as soon as we receive them. And they in turn deliver the donations directly to people, who live outside without a home. This will be our 17th year of operation!

By supporting us last year with a drop off location at the Municipal Hall, we collected donations that provided humanitarian aid, and filled hundreds of Backpacks, which assisted a huge population of people who were experiencing homelessness throughout The CRD. Your support helps bring hope and dignity to vulnerable people in our community, on Christmas day and throughout the year.

Last year all 13 Municipal Halls participated, and the response of YOUR communities was amazing!

We would like to know if we could count on you once again, to provide us a space in the front lobby of the Municipal Hall for our donation box and poster. (Photos attached below)

If you could please consider this request, and respond ASAP or before the November 1st start date, we would appreciate it!

Starting November 1st to Friday December 19th. We would need a small space to put a cardboard box and a poster, for 7 weeks. We would have volunteers collect donations from the boxes once a week, or as needed.

If you need any more information, or have any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail me anytime. Thank you for your consideration, in supporting this community cause.

Sincerely, *Niki Ottosen
