A citizen's request to prioritize the purchase of an electric vehicle (EV) for the parks department replacement truck.

Dear Mayor and Council,
You will be presented tomorrow with a proposal for the Town to buy a new Chevrolet Silverado truck to replace one that has aged out. Given you have voted for the Town declaring a climate emergency and, surely, believe it is an emergency, I would expect you to make every decision for the Town depend on a reduction in Town emitted greenhouse gases. So, I implore you to replace the present truck with an electric vehicle, for example the Ford 150 Lightening. I do know staff claims they need the larger box of the Silverado. So I ask you to task the clever and capable engineering staff to bend their creativity to figuring out how to use the box of the Lightening or equivalent to accomplish the same work for the Town and thereby not encumber us with another 20 years of greenhouse gas production unnecessarily.
I am asking you to take care of my grandchildren and cut our contribution to global warming wherever possible, and this is one place it is possible.
