There do not appear to be problems with posts. However, I can review that if you'd like. If you are worried about collapse, I'm surprised you are unwilling to do the remedial work for that significantly compromised joist. I will not do an on camera consultation without additional fees. You will see by my email that I did not state it was a demand and I was simply responding to your request. If you would like me to come for more typical construction phase structural services, I can do so for $500.

Hello Mark,
Anna here. Has Trevor told you about John's concern about the 6x6 posts in the garage that are bowing and cracking. John mentioned this and other concerns to Trevor during the framing review on October 31st. John was perplexed as Trevor wandered away from him while he was talking to him about the posts to go photograph areas John had pointed out as unfinished.
Since Trevor's November 29th visit, we have also noticed that the 8x8 post on the living space is also having issues. This is why John is asking you, as the Engineer on Record, to come to the site. You need to see the problems in person.
John thinks you are unaware of this and other issues. We would not be asking for this site meeting if we thought the building is structurally sound. I am very concerned that the house will possibly collapse.
I understand your schedule is busy but I think a structurally unsound building would be a priority. John installed the posts as per the drawings. Yes, he missed the 2 LVL on the living space and has since corrected that following your instructions.
As this is an Owner/Builder project, we appreciate the support you have been providing us and that is why we are expressing concerns before it becomes a major issue.
Based on your email tone and your phone conversation with him, John is concerned you are not listening to his concerns and this is why he wanted it recorded. The recording was asked in a polite way and not a demand. I know John can be strong-willed but he needed to confirm you understand his concerns without bias. This isn't his first build and this is going to be our retirement home so he is working to make certain this house is built to last our lifetime and beyond.

Hi John, I understand you are asking for a scope of work not normally included in a typical framing review. This will come at an added cost. Our job isn't to explain how to construct or build. We simply indicate on the plans what is structurally required to be constructed. Since many things have varied from the original design, we have worked with you to provide alternatives and minimize the site rework.
I understand that after three framing reviews and issued site instructions as well as numerous conversations and emails, you are requesting that I meet you on site to further explain things and have this meeting recorded on camera. This additional scope of work will be charged at $1000 + GST and will be limited to no more than two hours on site.
If you would like to book me for this service, we can add it to the next invoice. We will require it to be paid in advance of the site visit. I am currently booked up for the next two weeks but we can look into February.
