RE: Interim Building Permit and Inspection Processes

Thank you for your patience as we rapidly adapt to a changing world. The Town of View Royal is committed to maintaining services to the best of our abilities during this challenging time. With that in mind, there are a few interim changes to our building permit and inspection process that I’d like to draw your attention to:

• APPLICATIONS: Making an in-person application for a building permit requires making an appointment to drop off any materials such as application forms, plans or payment. Digital application maybe possible where you submit electronic plans, application and sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer through the Town’s Finance Department.

• INSPECTIONS: Basic Building Inspections for items like framing, plumbing, insulation etc. may be achieved by sending photographs and descriptions of the completed work to the Building Official. For the safety of all involved, the Building Official will not be attending sites for routine inspections.

  Inspection Photos: Please send an email including the inspection, and the address of the project to buildingpermits@viewroyal.ca The building dept will respond letting you know if the inspection was approved to continue work.

• For complex buildings there will be no site visits or inspections on these sites until further notice. We will continue to rely on the registered professional on record to inspect work and supply the necessary reports and documentation.

• Special arrangements will be made for final inspections of single family and duplex projects.
