Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: Confirmation of support for GMF application: West Shore Parks & Recreation and Colwood Community Buildings Retrofit Roadmap and Plan, City of Colwood, GHG Reduction Pathway Feasibility Study
This letter is to confirm that this project has the support of the Mayors of the five municipalities that co-own the West Shore Parks and Recreation facilities, as follows: the City of Colwood, the City of Langford, the District of Metchosin, the District of Highlands and the Town of View Royal. These facilities are located within the City of Colwood and are managed by the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society via agreement between its member municipalities.
This funding application is for a project that includes all West Shore Parks and Recreation buildings and City of Colwood municipal community buildings. The City of Colwood Council has endorsed this funding application, along with the Sustainable Municipal Building funding application for the remaining Colwood municipal buildings. A report on this joint project is also being presented to the West Shore Parks and Recreation board, and the anticipated endorsement will also accompany the funding application.
To achieve the target of net-zero emissions before 2050 and goals for energy efficiency and climate resilience, the City of Colwood and West Shore Parks and Recreation are partnering on these applications to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to fund retrofit feasibility studies and roadmaps for all buildings owned/managed by Colwood and West Shore Parks and Recreation. These funding applications include the commitment of 50% emissions reduction within 10 years and by at least 80% within 20 years compared to baseline performance.
This project and funding application are endorsed by the Mayors of the communities that co-own the West Shore Parks and Recreation facilities:
- Mayor Kobayashi, City of Colwood
- Mayor Goodmanson, City of Langford
- Mayor Little, District of Metchosin
- Mayor Williams, District of Highlands
- Mayor Tobias, Town of View Royal
