To The Mayor and Council,

I am writing you on behalf of The Victoria Fastball Club (Devils) and View Royal Fastball.

We recently hosted the U14A National Fastpitch Championship Jamboree at Helmcken Centennial Park from August 5th-9th. Preparations for the event and the fields began back in April 2015. I had a meeting with Dave Podmoroff to discuss the fields and come up with a plan.

New infield mix was brought in for all 3 diamonds. Rob levelled all the infields so they were ready for play as well as a couple of modifications to the field on Diamond 2. New shutoffs for hoses were installed on D1 and D2 to help with the field dust. This helps immensely with keeping the fields wet during field prep before and after games.

In the past 3 yrs we have hosted 2 Provincial Championships and now 1 National Championship. This year the preparation for the venue was unsurpassed. The compliments we received were over the top. We never had any complaints about the fields(venue) or even the parking and that can be a challenge. We even had a compliment from one of the teams from out of town, that we have raised the bar for future National Championships. The fields were Amazing. Nationally everyone was impressed.

The compliments are really based on the Pride and Dedication that Dave and the parks crew have in the park. Rob, Jay, Chris, Ian and Liam go above and beyond to keep this park as one of the Jewels of View Royal ! You should be very proud of them and what they do.

I have been very fortunate to deal with such a great crew. They are always willing to help me out when I need it. I love the park and take a lot of pride in the work I do there. Without all the work from Dave, Rob and the rest of the crew, the success of this event could not have been accomplished. A real pleasure for me!

I would like to thank the Town of View Royal for letting us be a part of the community and look forward to being at the park for years to come. It truly is a great place to play ball !

Thank you very much
