Dear Mayor & Council:

Re: Funding Request for 2008 Canada Day Celebration

On behalf of the Canada Day Celebration Committee, I would like to thank you for your support of our event in previous years, and request continued financial support for the 2008 Canada Day Celebration.

The Canada Day Celebration is held at Thetis Lake Park from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and provides free family activities for all ages. It is an extremely well attended event (approximately 5,000 people in 2007) and relies entirely on community support, grants and fundraising to ensure its continued success.

We are requesting financial assistance from the Town of View Royal for the 2008 Canada Day Celebration in the amount of $1,000.00. This money will be used for signage, advertising, children's activities, entertainment, fire permit and washroom rentals.

We would appreciate your consideration of our request.

We look forward to seeing you at Thetis Lake Park on July 1, 2008.

The Order recognizes individuals who have served with the greatest distinction and excellence in any field of endeavour benefiting the people of British Columbia or elsewhere.

Nominations can be made by individuals or organizations. Nomination forms are available online at www.protocol.gov.bc.ca or by calling (250) 387-1616 to have a nomination package mailed to you. The deadline for nominations for the 2008 Order of British Columbia is Friday, March 28, 2008.
