Meeting Overview

Council held a Regular Meeting where they approved the award of a tender for Shoreline Drive improvements ($97,400) and authorized a development permit variance at 160 White Pine Road (Councillor Rogers opposed). Council adopted several Committee of the Whole recommendations, including advancing the Casino Highway Improvement Project design and referring infrastructure funding issues to the 2010 Budget process. Discussion regarding the Tree Protection Bylaw led Council to refer it to a future Committee of the Whole meeting instead of granting readings. Multiple land use bylaws related to the Camden/Conard development and the Casino CD-6 zone were advanced.

Key Decisions

THAT the minutes of the Council meeting held November 3, 2009 be adopted.
THAT the Shoreline Drive sidewalk and drainage works be awarded to Aggressive Excavating, Ltd. in the amount of $97,400.00 (excluding GST).
THAT the issuance of Development Permit No. 2009/11 be authorized, which will have the effect of amending Environmental Development Permit 2009/04 to permit the construction of a second story deck at 160 White Pine Road, varying the required rear yard setback from 7.5m to 3.8m.
THAT the application of a 2009 Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) grant be approved; AND THAT staff be directed to bring forward a report when notification of funding approval has been received from JEPP. (COW-75-09)
THAT staff be directed to install stop signs on Camden Road at the Galloping Goose crossing; AND THAT staff be directed to work with the Capital Regional District on complementary mitigation measures for the trail. (COW-76-09)
