Dear Mayor and Coucil,
My name is Drew Coleman and I live at 136 Conard St. My family loves the community we live in and appreciate all the support you continue to give to maintain and grow that community.
We have one child who attends little friends daycare in View Royal and another who has just started her education at Eagle View Elementary. We do our best not to add to the congestion in the school parking lot each day, and want to leave space for those who need to use it. Because of this we park a distance from the school and use the crosswalk every day.
From our experiences using the crosswalk to get to school and our experiences in other unguarded crosswalks around View Royal I can say with confidence that having guards is necessary to maintain the safety of our children and their parents. I understand there are budgeting challenges and that it may come to question who should be paying for this. From my perspective, if View Royal has an opportunity to guarentee that our community has crossing guards at our school crosswalks, we should take advantage of that opportunity. These schools largely serve our community and we should take pride in continuing our contributions to this service, regardless of which organization is providing the attentive guards.
Thank you very much again for your consideration.
Sincerely, Drew Coleman
P.S. please see the drawing attached from Emilia. This is her crossing the cross walk with her dog, her dad and her crossing guard making her safe. The flying octopus is not that but rather a car...
