To the Mayor and Council of the Township of View Royal,

I reside on Brydon Rd. and in order to access View Royal, Victoria etc., this requires what has now become a dangerous venture on to Six Mile Rd. Over the past few years, as you may have noticed, vehicle traffic has increased exponentially on Vancouver Island. This has led to an increase of frustrated, reckless and inexperienced drivers as well.

In the past while I have encountered increasingly dangerous situations when trying to turn left off Atkins Ave. on to Six Mile Rd. Vehicles travelling with excessive speed are creating near miss situations, and road rage on their part! I might understand if I was an overly slow driver but to access Six Mile Rd. I have learned to become a race car driver. However, not many people can maneuver their vehicles as such and I fear great tragedies will occur. Not if but when.

There used to be a road sign in place to indicate this hidden road and a 30km/hr posting but has been missing for some time now. Perhaps this small measure can be reinstated but we’ve all seen how posted speed limits are most often ignored. The ideal situation would be a) install one or a series of speed humps, or b) a traffic circle. Whatever the Township decides, it must be decided upon and installed sooner than later. Surely you wouldn’t want preventable tragedies on your hands.

Sincerely,

Susan Sperrer
