NEW BUSINESS a) Proposed Privatization of BC Ambulance Services Sponsor: Town of View Royal WHEREAS in 1974 the BC Provincial Government formed the BC Ambulance service making service delivery a mixture of private and fire based services to unify services and the level of qualifications of ambulance workers and to guarantee that every community in the province has access to ambulance services; and WHEREAS it currently costs approximately $2 million per year to run an ambulance station and should the service model be privatized or downloaded to municipalities, regional districts and heath authorities, British Columbians would see further cuts in services in order to these expenses; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that AVICC and UBCM urge the provincial government to maintain BC Ambulance Service as a provincial service and not to transfer the service to regional health authorities or a private ambulance service.
