Meeting Overview
The April 20, 2010, View Royal Council meeting addressed several infrastructure contracts, budgetary approvals, and land development permits. Key decisions included awarding a five-year Road and Drain Maintenance contract and a Boulevard Landscape Maintenance contract to Victoria Contracting and Municipal Maintenance Corporation. Key Decisions
- THAT a letter of thanks and appreciation be written to both the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) and the City of Powell River Council and staff for hosting the 2010 AVICC annual general meeting and convention.
- THAT Council direct staff to include a variance to the maximum permitted building height specified in Land Use Bylaw, 1990, No. 35 from 7.5m to 8.5m in the notices for Development Permit 2010/03 for 335 Stewart Avenue.
- THAT a letter of thanks be sent to the DND Harbour Master, Commander Allan James, for the removal of the derelict boat at the end of Stewart Avenue.
- THAT all previous appointments to the position of Chief Administrative Officer, Municipal Clerk, Deputy Treasurer and Deputy Collector are hereby rescinded; AND THAT Sarah Jones be appointed as Acting Chief Administrative Officer and Acting Municipal Clerk; AND FURTHER THAT all previous appointments to the positions of Signing Officers be hereby rescinded; AND THAT Mayor Graham Hill or Councillor David Screech and the Clerk and Treasurer be appointed as Signing Officers.
- THAT the Town’s 2010-2015 Road and Drain Maintenance Contract be awarded to Victoria Contracting and Municipal Maintenance Corporation (VCMMC) from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2015 as follows: Year 1 = $159,662; Year 2 = $156,911; Year 3 = $165,991; Year 4 = $164,470; Year 5 = $161,633 (all amounts exclusive of GST and HST); AND FURTHER THAT Level of Service 1 for this Contract be approved.
