The July 20, 2010 Council meeting for the Town of View Royal addressed several key development and infrastructure projects. Council approved Environmental Development Permits for 83 Kingham Place, 2751 Shoreline Drive, and 265 View Royal Avenue, alongside a Temporary Commercial Use Permit for 14 Helmcken Road. Significant infrastructure decisions included the adoption of the View Royal Park Master Plan and the award of tenders for Helmcken Road landscaping and 2010 asphalt paving. Heritage matters were also highlighted with the creation of a Community Heritage Register and progress on the conservation of the Hart Road Lime Kiln, the latter of which saw a split vote regarding its 2011 budget considerations.
Key Decisions
- THAT the agenda be amended to include items 5 (a), 7 (a), 8.1 (e), 8.1 (k) and 11 (a); and that the agenda be approved as amended.
- THAT the minutes of the Council meeting held July 6, 2010 be adopted.
- THAT the presentation from L. Buchanan, Chair, BC Coalition for Action on Alcohol Reform, Re: Support of the Town for the Recommendations of the Coalition be received.
- THAT a Community Heritage Register be created; AND THAT All Saint’s Church, St. Columba Anglican Church and the Hart Road Lime Kiln be placed upon the Community Heritage Register.
- THAT Development Permit No. 2010/14 be issued to permit the construction of a concrete patio with arbour and the landscaping of 83 Kingham Place... AND THAT the Development Permit No. 2010/14 include: a variance to the minimum setback from the natural boundary of Portage Inlet from 15m to 13.2m... and the requirement to design and install an infiltration system.
