RE: Financial Grant for Spectrum’s 2021 Grad Celebration

Dear Mayor Screech and Council,

Spectrum Community School’s grad class parents are actively organizing an end of year celebration for the grads. In previous years the grads had numerous activities throughout the year, including a Dry Grad Celebration that followed a dinner. As you know this is a very different year however and these grads have been through a lot, they deserve a celebration to finish off the year that allowed them to do so little in their last year of high school.

Reflecting on the past year and what these grads had to endure, we believe it’s important to give them the best celebration we can to acknowledge their hard work and academic achievements. Graduation is a tremendous achievement and high school graduation is major milestone in our lives. With little to no fundraising allowed this past year we are relying on families and donations to bring the graduation to life.

As many of our graduating students live in View Royal, we are seeking a financial grant to offset the expenses of putting together a graduation event. Although they are not graduating in the standard way in a room with all of their peers, we want ensure each of the 280 graduates knows how proud our community is of their achievements.
