I reside at 278 Island Hwy, Victoria, BC V9B 1G5. In front of our complex are several parking spaces with a 2 hour limit. Since the new building at 280 was completed we have had a number of vehicles ignore the 2 hour limit. I have corresponded with Laura Busby who has attempted to have the parking restrictions adhered to and has made some progress. I appreciate her efforts. I do have two concerns however.

  1. Driver safety. I have attached a photo of a vehicle that ignores the restrictions. I believe he received a letter a few weeks ago but has ignored this. He is not alone in this. He will park there from afternoon to

That vehicle makes pulling out of our driveway hazardous at a minimum. There is almost no visibility. That is compounded by the 280 driveway being directly beside ours with people pulling out at the same time and going in different directions. This only became an issue once 280 was completed and sold.

  1. My second concern is what happens when 244 Island Highway and the project at the Helmcken corner are completed. Also it appears a new project is coming along across from from 244. There is simply not enough parking for all the overflow.

I recognize the limited time our bylaw officers have for this type of enforcement and accept Laura Busby has done her best. There remains, however, a safety issue that I feel needs to be addressed.

Thanks Rich Mennie 23-278 Island Highway
