Handidart on Burnside

Mayor of View Royal.

I am writing to oppose the installation of a HandiDart washing station at Burnside across from Eagle View Elementary

Rationale

  1. Land is not zoned for commercial use - there are several parcels of land designated for commercial use in the Westshore and Saanich. Why are those already commercial use parcels of land not being considered.

  2. Danger for elementary school students - with hundreds of commercial buses entering and leaving the area it is only a matter of time for a student to be run over (I have heard that they leave the yard at exactly the same time as the kids arrive for school on their bikes)

  3. Property values and infringement on enjoyment of property. This is a quiet residential area with two new condo developments - the owners and tenants did not envision living across the street from an industrial car wash.

  4. Environmental concerns - Craigflower Creek Watershed is an active spawning creek for Coho salmon. What effect will a commercial industrial truck wash and all of the associate chemicals mean for the creek? What about the purging of the Diesel engines for over 100 trucks. The pollution smell will be terrible.

What are you going to do to stop this?
