The Committee received a report on an application to change the definition of grade for a newly created lot, allowing the proposed house to be built higher and reducing steep access requirements, with the support of the immediate neighbor.
"Staff noted that the effective height increase was not as extreme as it appeared because the existing site was below natural grade due to excavation. The neighboring property (369 Island Highway), which would be most affected, submitted a letter in support. A condition was recommended to prevent the variance from creating an extra storey below grade."
