Environmental Development Permit No. 2022/04 - 53 Knollwood Road

Council reviewed a development permit application to stabilize a steep shoreline slope at 53 Knollwood Road using bio-engineered Gabion walls.

"The Senior Planner and the applicant's consultant (D. Ko) explained the necessity of the Gabion walls due to decades of ongoing slope movement and soil instability, exacerbated by previous fill deposition. Councillor Rogers expressed concern about the potential negative impact of hard seawalls on the shoreline environment and questioned the previous approval of an existing patio within the sensitive setback area. The applicant confirmed that biologists involved are familiar with View Royal projects and that native planting media would be integrated into the Gabion structure."
